The Five Most Important Effects of Climate Change

If you have been watching the Winter Olympics, you've seen one of the effects of climate change: this is the first Winter Olympics to use 100% manmade snow. When you see aerial views of any venues outside of Beijing, you see not snow whatsoever on the ground other than the snow which was manufactured (using lots of water and energy) to cover the slopes and runs used for competition.

So what are the direct effects of climate change? Here are 5:

• rising minimum temperatures
• rising maximum temperatures
• rising sea levels
• higher ocean temperatures
• an increase in heavy precipitation

In addition, there are other indirect effects of climate change, such as more water shortages and an increase in hunger.
