Cesar Chavez’ Life and Legacy

FIELD’s founder Cesar Chavez dedicated his life to the same non-violent approach to civil disobedience pioneered by Mahatma Ghandi and Martin Luther King Jr.  He strove to improve pay, living conditions,  and working conditions for migrant farm workers, particularly in California.  He created the National Farm Workers Association (which became the United Farm Workers of America) in California.
