SolarFIELD

 

    

SolarFIELD, in conjunction with the FIELD CTE Solar program, is a long-term solution for rural communities. These communities disproportionately suffer from a lack of year-round employment opportunities, lower wages, lack of health and retirement benefits, below-average education levels and are among the poorest in air quality in the nation.

SolarFIELD will have a positive impact on these rural communities by providing employment opportunities, as well as inspire the next generation of families that will benefit from their parents having access to jobs that provide higher wages and health benefits.


        

HOW IT WORKS

SolarFIELD, in collaboration with the CTE Solar Program, will work to provide incubation for FIELD’s vision of student Social Business Enterprises. Students enrolled in the CTE Solar Pathway will become a member of SolarFIELD. This work-based learning program will be the main focus of the CTE Solar pathway, and in conjunction with SolarFIELD, students will receive hands-on experience through the installation of solar systems on real houses for real customers.

This program will provide students with the opportunity to interact with customers to enhance their communication and public speaking skills. It will also provide them with real-world safety experience including electrical, Personal Fall Arrest Systems (PFAS), ladder, fall protection, walking and working surfaces and various other OSHA related topics.
