Climate Change Conference agrees to Eliminate Gas-Powered Vehicles by 2040The United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow, Scotland resulted in a landmark agreement among most of the world’s nations to achieve 100% zero-emissions vehicles by 2040, and sooner for some countries. While the U.S. and China, the two largest car markets, were NOT part of this agreement, the state of California was.
As part of this agreement, governments will convert their vehicle fleets to all-electric by 2035. Business fleets will be zero emission by 2030. Rich countries will help developing nations, while financial institutions will help fund the transition. Economies of scale are expected to significantly lower the cost of zero-emission vehicles.
